About this week

Image
This week has been very smooth for me, and also, the weather has made me a little being a couch potato. I know winter is coming, and the weather gets colder and colder cause it's already the end of October. This makes sense, and the weather made me bundle up more; on the other hand, other students wore T-shirts and shorts and didn't look like they were cold. I just don't get how they could do that. Anyway,  after last Thursday's class, I went home and just went into my warm blanket and watched movies, basically just chilling out. To be honest, I haven't got any work done yet because of that, and another reason is probably I was too excited about Halloween.  I've never been to a Halloween party, and this year's Halloween will be different and pretty fun times that I will experience. I spent tons of time finding costumes and makeup tools that I needed. However, I'm not hundred percent sure that I look good in that outfit or makeup doing it by myself. After...

Promise You Art House

Image
Visiting Promise You Art House was terrific! I don't remember when was the last time I went into an art gallery, but it has been a while.  I met an amazing woman there, who was the owner of that art house told me about her gallery, history, and its arts. There were paintings, wooden sculptures, and even hand-made jewelry pieces, which were all so incredible.  It was such a fun place to go, what's more, it's free! I would absolutely recommend others to visit her place.  It started because of the group project we have been doing for this class, and Kory was the first person to bring this idea. To be honest, I'm not very into arts and not a person who usually goes to art galleries or museums, but this place really took my interest when I heard it from Kory. I'm so happy that I actually went there and learned more about her art house. Our group will talk more about this art house in the class, so I don't want to spoil it right here. But genuinely it's definitely...

A new friend!

Image
This week has been so much fun because I got a new friend, and we spent some time doing fun stuff. It was awesome doing something different apart from schoolwork. You might wonder why I am so excited to share this with you because I don't know many people around here, so I usually go home and basically being alone all the time. But I'm glad that I met Mike, who is the super awesome and nicest guy ever. We are in the same chemistry lab and lecture, and we both live in the dorms, so that's kind of how we met.  On Wednesday, before the lecture, we had lunch together at the pizza place around campus while we were having an interesting conversation about ourselves. It felt like he was already one of my friends and like we had known each other for a while. After lunch, we came to campus and played ping-pong and pool in the game center in SULB. Gosh, I don't remember when was the last time I played it, but it was a long time ago, for sure.   He got like a whole bunch of stuff...

Yoga

Image
This semester,  I'm taking a yoga class. I don't know where I get the idea, but I love doing yoga now. I had never done yoga before, to be honest, and I'm not very good at doing any kind of physical activity. Almost everyone wants to change their lifestyle and be more active and healthy, and I wanted to do the same too; maybe that's why I'm taking this class. My parents always say being healthy is the top priority cause nothing can replace our health, so I'm learning to take care of my body and mental health.  About our class, we are a total of ten, including the instructor. As soon as we come into a class, we start doing warm-ups and then getting into different poses, as our instructor suggests. Every lesson we learn new poses but some of them are pretty challenging because it needs concentration and balancing. I'm still working on that, hopefully getting better at it soon. Soft music plays as we do yoga during the class, and we usuall...

About last night

Image
One of my friends came to Chicago, and we decided to do something interesting. He works at a truck company and drives one of them. He and his girlfriend moved to Washington last July, and since then, we haven't had much time to hang out.  So, we decided to watch a movie. I totally forgot how it feels like to watch a movie at the cinema. The last film that I watched at the cinema was " Frozen 2" with my Korean friend, Jenny. It sounds funny, but it's what it is. We had already talked about watching "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten rings" because everyone who I know seems like watching this movie at the moment, so I don't want to miss that one. After having dinner at a Mexican restaurant, we went to the cinema. Honestly, I had never been to a cinema since I came here and my first impression was insane! The cinema was huge, and I had no idea how many halls there were. I first was a little bit worried about watching the movie at the big crowded cin...

About me

Image
I have seen many of my classmates writing about themselves for this week's blog. So I want to do the same. As you may already know, I'm Arvin and come from Mongolia. It's my third semester at PNW, and I'm majoring in Biological Science. Starting college during a pandemic was hard for me, but I managed to finish two semesters which I can't believe. It feels amazing; being back on campus, having college experience, and seeing many students even though I don't know many people around here. By the way, I'm 22 years old; I know it's too old for being a sophomore. It's because after graduating high school, I went into medical school for 2 years in my country and then decided to learn English; therefore, I flew to Australia. It had been my dream to study abroad since I was a child. You might ask, "Why Australia?". At first, I thought of coming here because my only brother lives here, and then there were difficulties in obtaining a U.S visa ...

I'm a Mongolian

Image
Everyone asks me where I came from and then starts to guess some other countries from Asia. Once I answer the question, they get lost or have no idea where that country is or even its existence. For this week's blog, I wanted to write a country that I think can be interesting for our classmates. In my opinion, two out of ten people know about my country, but what they know is only Genghis khan. So, you might get it; it's Mongolia. However, I don't want to write history here to bore you, I just would love to give a little bit of information about my country.       To begin with, I was born and raised in Mongolia, the country is located between two powerful countries, China and Russia. Some people think that Mongolia is part of China, but it's not true. Mongolia is an independent country, and the population is only 3 million who speak Mongolian (native language). The capital of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar, which is a quite crowded place than the rest ...
