I'm a Mongolian
Everyone asks me where I came from and then starts to guess some other countries from Asia. Once I answer the question, they get lost or have no idea where that country is or even its existence. For this week's blog, I wanted to write a country that I think can be interesting for our classmates. In my opinion, two out of ten people know about my country, but what they know is only Genghis khan. So, you might get it; it's Mongolia. However, I don't want to write history here to bore you, I just would love to give a little bit of information about my country.
To begin with, I was born and raised in Mongolia, the country is located between two powerful countries, China and Russia. Some people think that Mongolia is part of China, but it's not true. Mongolia is an independent country, and the population is only 3 million who speak Mongolian (native language). The capital of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar, which is a quite crowded place than the rest of Mongolia. A nomadic lifestyle is absolutely one of the Mongolian spotlights, but not all people live like that. Honestly, I didn't live like a nomadic girl; I lived in the apartment and grew up like you. But some people in Mongolia live in yurts and look after domestic animals to live in the countryside, such as sheep, horses, goats, cows, and camels.
Mongolia has beautiful nature, high mountains, wild animals, and lots of areas that look almost empty. Just imagine, if you go 100 miles from one town, there would be no one and nothing, just nature and countryside. Last summer I spent my holiday in Mongolia. My family and I, we went on a road trip around Mongolia. The most amazing thing among them was watching the Mongolian highest and coldest mountain, Altai Tavan Bogd. (the picture is above)
About food, we love meat and all kinds of dairy products which are made by ourselves. We have two big festivals in Mongolia: "Naadam" and "Lunar new year." During these festivals, we tend to wear our traditional clothes called "deel." It's a kind of long dress with long sleeves and a belt regardless of our gender.
Mongolia is a country with its own language and culture, which makes it unique from other countries. I have always been proud of being Mongolian, and it has always been a pleasure to introduce it to others. I'm including one video of our country with this blog that might give you some idea about Mongolia.
How amazing is that being different but living in the same world!

I loved reading about your country. It seems like such a beautiful place to be. Coming from another Country makes you unique and you now have lots of stories to tell from your childhood in Mongolia. I can relate to you about living in a different country too. I used to live in Canada, but it's not as cool as Mongolia though!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lyndsey! Are you from Canada?? That's awesome! I heard it's beautiful country. I have never been there, but I will visit there in the future for sure.
ReplyDeleteI think your country is so cool! It looks and sounds like such a beautiful place. I hope I could visit there someday. Off topic from your blog, you are such a cool person, learning a new language, coming from a different country, very smart, always on top of work. I wish I was you! Sorry for getting off topic...I bet you miss it back there, I hope you'll be able to visit soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Madelyn! Honestly, I'm not that smart like you said, I just try hard. Because if I'm feeling like behind school, i know it's going to be very difficult to get back, so I do things as early as I could. Anyway, thanks again for your reply.
