About me

I have seen many of my classmates writing about themselves for this week's blog. So I want to do the same. As you may already know, I'm Arvin and come from Mongolia. It's my third semester at PNW, and I'm majoring in Biological Science. Starting college during a pandemic was hard for me, but I managed to finish two semesters which I can't believe. It feels amazing; being back on campus, having college experience, and seeing many students even though I don't know many people around here. By the way, I'm 22 years old; I know it's too old for being a sophomore. It's because after graduating high school, I went into medical school for 2 years in my country and then decided to learn English; therefore, I flew to Australia. It had been my dream to study abroad since I was a child. You might ask, "Why Australia?". At first, I thought of coming here because my only brother lives here, and then there were difficulties in obtaining a U.S visa which led me to go to Sydney, Australia. It was the first country that I had ever been to. I had wonderful times there, and I met amazing people, learned many things from them. It was such an unforgettable experience that I had in Sydney. After living one year and a half, I applied for a U.S visa again, which worked out, thank goodness. It wouldn't happen if there wasn't enormous support from my family. I feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world, and I am always grateful for everything I have.
The only thing that my family is looking for me is to become an educated woman. In order to make that happen and not to let my family down, I have to be a strong, smart girl and do well in school. You know that I study Biology here because I would love to pursue a career in medicine after my undergraduate degree. It's sometimes hard to think about my future and what it's going to be like. Going into medical stuff and looking at what needs to be done to be a medical doctor is nerve-racking and terrifying. But I'm done with being stressed out about things that haven't come yet. So, I have been trying to be more focused on right now and enjoy the moment.  As long as I have a hunger for knowledge and a desire for learning more about medicine, there is no way that I need to be afraid about what will be my future. I hope Purdue can help me to prepare well for this long journey.

I'm still learning, growing to be better, and that's what I do for now.

  1. I love how you said "But I'm done with being stressed out about things that haven't come yet." I think it is a good mindset to have. I think success will take it's place if you stay on the path that gets you there. But don't stress about what hasn't come yet. I should stick with this mindset, it helps block out unnecessary stress.

  2. What made you choose to live and go to school in Northwest Indiana? Your story is incredible and extremely interesting. It seems like your life has already been filled with so much excitement. I think many people could also benefit from focusing more on being in the moment, which is something I have tried to focus on as well.

    1. Well, coming to Chicago was because of my brother and about PNW was because my sister-in-law suggested me to go. She is a big fan of Purdue and always wanted to go, but she didn't get in. I heard a lot about Purdue from my sister so I wanted to apply. Another reason why I chose PNW was affordable tuition compare to other universities. So, these led me to be here, and I'm happy that I chose PNW.
